recycled wooden coat rack with rustic hooks
Ratings & Reviews
Just what I was looking for
Great rustic coat hook that was perfect for our mudroom. Great coat rack for the price.
Unfortunately, I had to do some work to it to fit our purposes. First off, the board is barn wood, which is very thin. It worked fine since our mudrooms accent wall is of the same material.
I would have given this item five stars, if it wasn't for the hanging mechanism. It came with two small triangle shaped hooks. First off, the shape and positioning of the hooks don't hold it securely to the wall. I had to drill four holes in the board to affix it to the wall. No it stays against the wall when pulling things off and putting them on it. Second, it splintered easily, again, love the rustic look, and put a grey stain on it anyway. "made in China"
I do love the coat rack now, for our uses, it needed modification.
I am very disappointed in this purchase. It is not recycled wood. It is some type of light balsa wood or wood like material. It is misrepresented in the magazine. The hardware for attaching to the wall is flimsy and attached so that it sticks out above the top of the rack. I’m not sure how this is meant to hold coats. This is at best worth $10. Certainly not $35. For this quality, go to Hobby Lobby and get something at 40% off. It will be a much better deal. You'll also know what you are getting.
I am going to try to attach it to the wall (after I move the hardware down on the back of the rack so the screw won’t be seen) and see if it actually hold coats. Then I will determine whether it worth sending it back or not. Definitely NOT the hefty piece of real wood that seems to be pictured. Also came with a sticker that said made in China.
