four bulb wire mesh horizontal pendant light

Ordered this to replace a light over my dining table. Opened it up and found that although it was described as a good choice for hanging over your table, the wiring ended in a plug that obviously needed a socket. The wiring over most tables is not that. I was able to cut the plug off and hardwire the light into my ceiling wiring. No UIL tagging, so hopefully it is sound electrically. Of course...made in China. Love the look of it, with the Edison bulbs, but not sure it is worth $299.00
